About this Speaker
Mike is serving his second term as Illinois State Treasurer. Prior to becoming State Treasurer, Mike served seven years in the Illinois Senate representing East Central Illinois. Before the Illinois Senate, Mike was elected twice to the Champaign County Board and then elected as Champaign County Auditor. Mike is a graduate of Yale. He spent two years in Taiwan where he taught English and learned to speak Chinese. He was a small business owner and has served as a volunteer firefighter. Mike and his daughter live in Champaign.
